Meet the WINNERS in our 2011 annual
pet lovers star search!

Grand Prize Winner 2011

This year's grand prize winner is Lady Ghost Rider, an Old English Bulldog, who is 1 yr and 6 months old.

Lady Ghost Rider's adoring humans describe her as a sweet and loving puppy, who is wonderfully well behaved, though she does enjoy annoying the cat a bit. Lady Ghost Rider also loves the water and is an excellent swimmer.

We chose her as our Grand Prize winner for her bright sunnny disposition and easy poise in the pumpkin patch.

Congratulations Lady Ghost Rider on being named our 2011 Grand Prize Winner!

Our 2011 Pet Lover's Star Search

First Place Winners
(in no particular order):

Reba: Her loving humans rescued Reba when she was six months old from a breeder who had kept her in a small cage her entire life. Although, Reba's fontenelle never fused shut, she has lived longer than any veterinarian expected. With plenty of love and proper care from her devoted humans, Reba grew into a happy healthy adult and is now 9 years old!! She is only 4 pounds, but she is every bit as big as a Great Dane to her loving family! Reba enjoys snoozing lazily on a caring shoulder and spends her days being cuddled and loved. Lucky Dog!

Scarlet Rose is a "Doggie Diva" who is truly adored by her loving family. She has been in several pet fashion shows and has won several ribbons including a Grand Prize. She loves to dress up and show off. She has her own shop called "My Scarlet Rose" Doggie Boutique. After her debut on a couple of local News Stations showing off her modeling skills, Scarlet became almost impossible to live with and her humans had to remind her firmly that at home she is just part of the pack and Mommy and Daddy are the pack leaders. But no matter how often they have to remind her of her place in the family, Scarlet Rose is never allowed to forget that she is loved by all!

Anabella's devoted human describes her as "a little lover" because she always wants to cuddle and loves to sleep on peoples' heads. She greets everyone with a tail-wag and a toy in her mouth for any kind "volunteers" to throw. She can play in the yard for hours and loves her toys!

This is JJ the Miniature Donkey. He stands just 34 inches tall and is 8 years old. He came to live with his family when he was only 6 months old. JJ loves Peppermints and marshmallows and he loves to wear hats. he also has no problem getting dressed up, wearing complete outfits that amaze passers-by (and our judges!). He likes to get in the trailer to go for rides. His best friend is a 15'2 Appaloosa.

Carmel Corn: Adopted from a ferret shelter at a tender age, Carmel Corn has been the apple of her human's eye ever since. Her devoted human describes her as, "a little tiny girl with a big heart" and tells us that Carmel Corn only uses clean litter boxes and has trained her momma to keep them spic and span! She loves to stand up on two feet and welcomes any new ferret into her home with enthusiasm and curiosity, especially the ferret babies. Carmel Corn is truly an angel in disguise. Look closely, she may show you her wings!

Rusty came to live with his loving family when he was four months old. He was "discounted" because of his color - which some people, apparently, consider "ugly" and undesirable.
Of course, Rusty's new family could see right away what all those other people missed - that Rusty was beautiful, loving, and capable of being a true best friend to the humans who chose him. (What a lucky dog! What a lucky family who could see him so clearly!).
Rusty's favorite past time is holding his daddy down to be tickled by his mommy. He doles out kisses generously to his loved ones and is a very talented dancer who is learning to jump for treats and toys.

Tara Storm was from a feral litter and about to be shipped off to a farm, as "unadoptable," when she was rescued by her devoted owner. Once Tara was ensconced in a loving family, she proved herself to be quite "adoptable" and loving. From the glowing praise bestowed upon her by her loving human, it is very clear that she has enjoyed a very loving home ever since.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our 2011 pet lover's star search - whether by sending in a photo of your pet or by voting for your favorite pic. You have all made our star search both fruitful and exciting (and the judging tortuously difficult).

Nearly every entry had some overwhelmingly charming quality. In fact, there were so many utterly captivating photos and delightful stories, that we ended up with 7 first place winners - when we had originally planned for only 5. Luckily, our artist was able to accomodate additional winners this year. Thanks to everyone for making this year's star search such a success. I hope you'll all be back next year.

We also chose 10 entries for honorable mention - though we would have liked to have chosen many many more for recognition.

All pet photos have been resized to fit this page; many have also been cropped and a few have been digitally enhanced in other ways - to better suit this page and our purposes. Our judges made their choice based on the original photos as submitted (you'll see this when the art work is finished - drawings will be based on uncropped photos as well); many factors were considered. Tie-breaking essays were absolutely crucial in a couple of cases - so be sure to include those next time you enter!

All decisions are final. Prize packages will be shipped out to the addresses that were included with the winning entries - so if you have moved, will be moving, etc., please email us and let us know as soon as possible. We'd hate for your prize packages to end up at the wrong address. Thanks again!
