Meet the WINNERS in our 2007 annual
pet lovers star search!

This line-up photo of hoglet siblings was taken when they were only 9 days old. Nonetheless, it is clear that they are already adept at posing for the camera.
Flower (second from the left) was the only female in her litter. According to her human (and photographer), she wanted to know what was going on. Snorlax reportedly told her it was a line up, smile!

Our 2007 Pet Lover's Star Search

First Place Winners
(in no particular order):

Odie: There was something beautiful and, at the same time, a little heartbreaking about the look in this little guy's eyes. It just made our judges melt. Odie enjoys a loving home that he shares with 4 ferret brothers and sisters.

Pogo: Named for his indefatigable energy (and we're assuming general bounciness), this cat's adoring human adopted him after he had been abandoned on a hot and sunny street corner in a cardboard box. We think they both got very very lucky that day. This gorgeous kitty melted our hearts and made our day!

Morgan: AKA Milkbone Morgie - is described by her human as a happy go lucky senior golden retriever (shes almost 10) who enjoys swimming, swimming & more swimming (with an occasional milkbone tossed in on a frisbee, or something like that). We couldn't get over Morgan's winsome expression. She communicates a lot with those eyes, doesn't she?

Moxie: Adopted from a local shelter, it isn't readily apparent that this beautiful tuxedo cat has been very ill, but with the love and care of her devoted human, she is now doing very well. According to her human, her name means, "the ability to overcome obstacles with courage." Obviously her human's devotion has played a big part in Moxie's recovery as well. We wish her and her human friends the very best.

Andy: Nicknamed, "Sunshine boy," this beautiful Yorkie has been said to brighten up the home he shares with his human family and three Yorkie Sisters. His devoted human describes him as both gentle and playful. It is easy to see why he has so quickly become the center of such lavish affection (those gifts are all for him, right?)

Spunky: Named Spunky for obvious reasons, this adorable white fox terrier loves to play. She is so devoted to her owner that they even share the same fashionable reading glasses. We loved her playful new look so much we decided she was definitely star material!

Minka: Described by her human as a fiesty little girl whose favorite activities were building nests, digging in the sand box and fishing for peas, this adorable rat caught our attention because of her inquisitive look and stance. It's almost as if she is examining herself in a mirror and pondering the great questions of life. Or, maybe she's just trying to remember where she left her pea. Nonetheless, we found her wee little feets and nose irresistable.

Savannah Rose: Described as a spoiled, spunky party animal who liked to dance, Savannah's beautiful dark eyes tell the rest of the story - she was happy, loved, and devoted to her family. Who wouldn't want to party when they have all that going for them? Though Savannah Rose has passed on now, she is remembered with love as a good friend who knew how to enjoy life.

Elmo & Sophia: There is something unbeatably precious about bonded bunnies snuggled up nose to nose. Elmo was adopted already bonded with Sophia in June of 2001 and they have remained devoted to one another ever since. In this photo they were napping. According to their human, it is common to see them sleeping this way.

Andy, Tiffany, Muffin, Melody: These year old Shih Tzu siblings are as adorable as they are adored in their brightly colored hair ribbons. Melody, on the far right seems to be very intrigued by the camera while Andy on the far left seems to be content just to sit snuggled up with his beautiful sisters.

Oracle: Described by her human as "special needs" with an anxiety disorder and a propensity for exploring her world with her teeth, this beloved ferret was nonetheless rescued and welcomed into a loving home where she was doted on and appreciated for her many gifts. Oracle has since passed on, but she is remembered with great affection.

Thank you so much to everyone who participated in our 2007 pet lover's star search - whether by sending in a photo of your pet or by voting for your favorite pic. You have all made our star search both fruitful and exciting (and the judging tortuously difficult).

Nearly every entry had some overwhelmingly charming quality. In fact, there were so many utterly captivating photos and delightful stories, that we ended up with a 11 first place winners - when we had originally planned for half that many. Luckily, our artist was able to accomodate additional winners this year. Thanks to everyone for making this year's star search such a success. I hope you'll all be back next year.

We also chose 12 entries for honorable mention - though we would have liked to have chosen many many more for recognition.

All pet photos have been resized to fit this page; many have also been cropped and a few have been digitally enhanced in other ways - to better suit this page and our purposes. Our judges made their choice based on the original photos as submitted (you'll see this when the art work is finished - drawings will be based on uncropped photos as well); many factors were considered. Tie-breaking essays were absolutely crucial in a couple of cases - so be sure to include those next time you enter!

All decisions are final. Prize packages will be shipped out to the addresses that were included with the winning entries - so if you have moved, will be moving, etc., please email us and let us know as soon as possible. We'd hate for your prize packages to end up at the wrong address. Thanks again!
